Fender American Strat Professional II: HSS or SSS?
Need a guitar for gigging in a disco band. What strat pickup config should I go with? Or are strats not things that are nice?

HSS cause even as a massive strat fan, the bridge pickup is pointless in one.

Put it through a Hermida Zendrive and see if you still say that.
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

In a disco band, isn't the guitar player the guy buying the Band's drinks?

That's a point.
You obviously need a 'Hitmaker'

I love an SSS strat for playing at home but I would always gig with an HSS given the option. I don't play disco though so ymmv.
Loving it so far

I put a hotrail in the rear of my strat many many years ago, as while I wanted the push of a bucker, I personally don't like the look of HSS... just a preference thang.
No one ever died of hard work.. but why take the risk..

Ah don't be too presumptuous now, I think it's awesome and the orange would be great as a disco guitarHackSaw wrote: ↑Wed Feb 16, 2022 6:42 am Everything everyone hates here, but this would be my disco “strat”…

If you use the tone knob on the bridge pickup, SSS. Bridge & Middle single coil combo for funk/disco is special.
If you want to get geeky, use a super switch (4 pole 5 way) so you can wire bridge+middle to Tone1 (or even no tone) while assigning bridge alone to Tone2.
