I would. Offsets with humbuckers just don't sit right with me. Would you be able to mount standard Jag pups with a new pickguard?

Yes, so would need a loaded pickguard from Stratosphere.

Humbucker-sized P90s might be good for a laugh. Would need some wiring adjustment, maybe.

Hopefully it has 500k pots already so perfect for p90s

In all reality you’re probably right
But these do have super thing weird poly
They are actual mahogany bodies (vs the original mosrite bass wood ) making them heavy. Maybe shedding a pound of poly will help….

If I were to refin it might be a deep midnight blue

What about a baby blue with orange racing stripe ala Gulf racing colours

Interested to know what those pickups are, they look like they could be a humbucker sized P90 or some kind of other single coil???

According to the interweb (there is actually a tonne written about these as there seems the be a surprising number off mosrite fanboiz out there ) they are pretty frickn hot single coils. Neck around 10k and bridge close to 15k

In the meantime can we resurrect the mastery vs JM/Jag (with mustang or original saddles) debate?

Ive been spending some serious hours wth my AVRI JM and 64 Jag both with mastery bridges and now with new highly sensual offset also with mastery.
Have been a mastery fan boy for some time but im now questioning this...

1. Im not loving the look of the bridge next to the rest of the vintage aesthetic of my guitars
2. Something is missing tone wise when I listen closely to old surf recordings. For want of a better description there is a subtle lack of upper grittiness/sparkle. Not necesarrily brightness per se. Hard to define.
3. The intonatino scrws have a habit of loosening and spring rattle occurs (rattle obviously not an issue when playnbg at volume)

Stock bridges do sound better in my opinion. The Mastery functions beautifully, but the mass is missing.

Question is, do you intend to set the stock bridge up floating, or fixed like the Mastery? The latter is an error, IMO – it's not how the stock bridge was intended to work. I have mine floating and it works perfectly for me, but I'm more of a subtle-yet-frequent vibrato user than a divebomber.

I don't like threaded saddles, so actually I'm using an AmPro JM (Mustang) bridge, but same diff. Staytrem could be another option for you – no springs at all, so no rattles, and possibly a happy sonic medium between stock and Mastery, while also looking vintage. Bit of a wait list for a Staytrem at the moment, though, I think.
