Open your mind to receive more Deftonesy goodness...Around The Fur is still the best album, IMO. I think you'd struggle to find a song you hated on there.

The good stuff, as I see it:

Be Quiet and Drive (their "ballad")
Change (in the House of Flies)
Passenger (with fucking Maynard)
Around the Fur (the song)
No Ordinary Love (Sade cover, yes seriously, it's great)

Their second and third albums are strongest by far, the last one or two (self titled and Saturday Night Wrist) or whatever have been horrible unlistenable shit.

More shit opinions.

I jest, I jest.

Edit: useful contribution - what are we reckoning is the story behind this album? Eros re-recorded, or new stuff and Eros to be released later? Mix? Discuss.

Yep Around the Fur is the one. White Pony is a (good) mixed bag of sort of indie metal pop (!) from Chino's heavy 80s influence juxtaposed against Stephen's straight ahead brutality. If you like Chino's weirder shit, check out Team Sleep, his side project, which is kinda Deftones meets Massive Attack (and yes, it's as cool as that sounds).

Im not their biggest fan.... but fuck me! That was a kick ass song in the link!

I prefer the white pony album and around the fur... mainly for memories sake, but they are filled with killer hooks and enough fucked upness to make mike patton proud

They're also good to track progress with, I think. There are some pretty awesome changes between each album; their peak is up to personal taste.

My favorite Deftones track is definitely Pink Maggit. Love it.

Only heard Around The Fur and White Pony and whatever album my sister used to blast 24/7 in her car in passing.

I don't mind them at all.

Eros has been shelved for now. This is a new album IIRC.

Listened to the songs the other day, one was ok but not my thing (see what I did there? I don't like it but I don't get nasty  ) and the other one was fuckin amazing.

Saturday Night Wrist does have some killer stuff on it, you just have to dig a little to find it.

I wonder if the waveform image is real. Looks like a compression-fest.

I always find it interesting what albums/songs/era's people really dig. For me, 'White Pony' is one of those 'awesome from start to finish I have to listen to the whole thing' albums. It kinda helped shape the way I look at heavy music. The heavy songs... the little atomspheric interludes. The whole thing was very creative. Around the Fur is a great collection of songs also.

I remember pulling some tracks off 'White Pony' into a wave editor when I was at Audio Engineering school... that thing was slammed to the roof! Pretty much a solid bar.

Yeah man. The drums though - oh, so tasty! Actually, the everything. Massive production.
