Glad you didn't take me up on the offer, after a night of over indulgence at the Oprah.... fell asleep in the office chair, awoke still drunk. Went to bed, slept until 1pm then did other stuff including finishing a baffle, doing some tolexing, drinking some wine.
Regarding switch orientation, I always make sure mine is correct to the diagram because I'm lazy. If I'm feeling less lazy, I'll get the meter out and check that contacts actually work regarding how they are supposed to be.
If there is no sound, it sounds more basic. Start with checking a pickup straight through to the output jack socket. If that works go from the switch to the output socket (cutting out volume and tone) - always do the halving thing when possible. Give you a better idea where your soddering is sodded.
