What a hoot - I'm impressed by the posts, though a lack of "real" replies in my in box is not quite so impressive.

New Tui ad:
Hey some really interesting 60's songs (mentioned above) to add to our repertoire. Yeah, right.

OK - I admit, "10 Guitars" if someone grovels (pays) enough for it. (Yeah, right)

Razza = RSA
Cozzie = Cosmopolitan Club
Pub = expensive beer.
Corporate = big bucks
"That stuff you play really bugs me out"

You scared the shit out of everyone with the first requirement. Excellent and special. It's new zealand, we're not supposed to think that about ourselves. :lol:

As for Zager & Evans - you bastard - I can never get that stupid smegging song outa my head once its mentioned!! :)
Possibly the Cyrkle covered RRB here - but the orfginal I remember as the Seekers - yeah me too (2525) and that Jonathon King Moon song

'streets full of people, all alone' etc. Urrrrrgh!

The other one I loathe is that "Ferry me across the Mersey' by Gerry and co - I mean you ever seen the foetid, stinking swamp that is the Mersey??> Christ no way!! for years I thought it was 'Mary across the Mersey' which at least made some sense.

Have to go and get a Creem fix to feel better/normal again i.e. 'Yellow tigers ran down moon-beams in her dark eyes' etc. with the classic use of wah that only IMHO Hendrix bettered.

Now doing those again would be fun!!! but sadly I'm not in Auckland. Sorry dc4.

Pay? :o
Pay? Who said anything about pay?
Not me! :oops:
Seriously, of course it pays, depends on the gig.
Razzas are stingy, but Corporates and even Weddings pay OK.
Of course Mr IRD gets a share as well.

I think my first pay was a fumble at the back of the YWCA with the organiser...
He hit a chord that rocked the spinet and disappeared into the infinite ...

Gad that was heaps back then!! - later $125 a night for three piece band was doing well at the local level. Needless to say when Phil talks about 'over $800 per gig' the eyes tend to drop out a bit!!!

Still was all great fun.

Er, would $800 bucks cover the petrol amongst 4-5 band members?

Most pubs won't go past $800 for a 4 piece. For private gigs we usually get $1000. Corporates a bit more but not often.

20 years ago i was getting $400 for a duo

Add a couple chicks up front and you'll get the corporates paying $5K to $10K.

Oh BTW you have to put lots of disco into the repertoire....
