Grant, what's the differences between the R4 and the 54RI? (Apart from the fact that you only kept one of them).
Where as you can see the black R4 has a wrap around tail piece and 2xP90's (from 1953 in this instance).
So they are very different sounding beasts...and the '73 is heavier. But I do prefer it as it has this amazing honky tone which reminds me of a good PAF. It is harder to play though.
Note the bent tailpiece - from years of being under string tension.
