Just happened upon this video of a chap refinishing a Les Paul (not sure if he made the guitar too) and doing some really nice relic work. At 3:41 he puts the guitar in a freezer to get things started. It also shows some nitro products chaps here might be interested in.
Wasn't sure there'd be enough interest in this topic to justify a thread of its own but if you've links you want to share I'd be interested to see them.

Nice relic work. I'm increasingly of the opinion that repeated but less intense fluctuations are the best route for realistic-lookong fine checking. Will test this out when I finally get to the Strat and Tele on my workbench...
