Re: New Blog - BOSS pedals of the Pros
cool Blog Matt! Have a TR2 and SD1 on my main board atm, can't beat the TR2 for it's versatility, and the SD1 was just good enough to replace my Mesa Boogie Grid Slammer when that ended up on my other board

Re: New Blog - BOSS pedals of the Pros
Great article Matt.. got me thinking I just sold a bunch of my Boss pedals, but I just couldn't for what ever reason get rid of my SD-1 or DS-1 ive tried pulling them off my board a hundred times told myself there's way better pedals out there etc.. I think its the sound that I grew up with and I just cant let it go. Anyway it was an interesting read thanks..

Re: New Blog - BOSS pedals of the Pros
True story. It's a fun one to bust out when some TGP knowledge-box is waxing lyrical about how much better the DD-2 was than the DD-3. Those guys listen with their eyes.Slowy wrote:"By the time 1986 rolled around, the price of D-RAM chips had plummeted, and the cost of building the DD-2 had dramatically reduced. BOSS wished to pass on the price savings to the customer, but decided that simply dropping the price of the DD-2 would make a poor impression to the market. Instead they decided to simply change the name of the DD-2 to the DD-3. BOSS simply continued manufacturing the same circuit – they just changed the silk-screen printing on top of the pedal and released it to the market with a much lower price tag."
Brilliant!

Alright then chaps, sound off: who has a Boss pedal or two on their board, or otherwise in use, and what do you have? I think I've only got a CS-3 Compressor at the moment. Have had a CH-1 Chorus and will probably own another Boss Chorus, and an SD-1, at some stage.

I've been doing a few short videos for social media in the last few days. Knocked this one out the other day and was pretty stoked with the tone!

When you gonna be doing the Waza amp Matt?

Re: New Blog - BOSS pedals of the Pros
I love heaps of Boss pedals. Particularly, 80's ones and have/had quite a few. Having said that, I really like some of the new Waza versions, and things like the RV6 which has brought back the delay+reverb options which are great! VB2 Vibrato is awesome. I currently have a DD7, TU2, HF2 Flanger, and an RV3 on my board, and they've been there for a few years now. The HF2 has been on lately replacing an old BF2. Super OD, OD3, GE7, TR2, PH2/3... but I digress.hamo wrote:Alright then chaps, sound off: who has a Boss pedal or two on their board, or otherwise in use, and what do you have? The Blues Cube Hot is a KILLER little amp. I'm quite attached to it.
Stacking pedals for juicy high gain sounds is a trick I learnt when I went through a phase of shunning channel-switching amps in favour of using pedals into a clean amp. Pushing a nice neutral-voiced overdrive HARD with a SD/TS flavoured pedal is an excellent way to get some super juicy tones.
I'll never forget playing a multi band gig years ago.....I had just played our set with my pedals/Fender amp setup, then the next guy went up with his Marshall TSL half stack. After he finished his set, he came offstage and asked me how come my Fender amp sounded more Marshall-y than his Marshall

I've had some time with the Waza Amp......but they're still in short supply, so mine got whisked away before I could make any content.jeremyb wrote:When you gonna be doing the Waza amp Matt?

Re: New Blog - BOSS pedals of the Pros
I love Boss pedals too. Started out dreaming of Boss pedals, then got sucked into the boutique hype. Somewhere along the line I worked out Boss pedals are every bit as good, and the physical design is vastly better that the boutiques.
I love the silent switch and recessed knobs. Had a lot of them now, including some multiple times as I keep changing my mind.

In my life I've owned 4 x DS-1's and 5 x GE-7's. I swear on my life I will never sell another GE-7. World's most useful pedal.bbrunskill wrote:Had a lot of them now, including some multiple times as I keep changing my mind.
