(also, hopefully the new Katana doesn't make my brand new Katana 100W Head obsolete already...)
Not at all - the Katana head is still awesome. The Katana Artist has the same engine inside with only very slight tweaks to the voicings.
The major features of Katana Artist boil down to:
Waza Craft G12W Speaker (absolutely wonderful speaker)
MIDI IN (previously was only on Katana Head)
Extension Speaker outs
Controls on front panel
3 more features accessible from front panel (Bank A/B, CAB RESONANCE and LINE OUT voicing options)

I'm biased of course, but I think it's much better than the Helix. Although Helix sounds awesome, I always found it a little odd and inorganic under the fingers. GT-1000 has a great feel about it.
The onboard effects are from our 500 series pedals (most excellent) and the routing/flexibility options are mind-boggling.
....plus wireless bluetooth iOS/Android editing is gonna be sooooooo cool!

This demo is SLICK. Colour me interested. Also, mad props for making a groovy piece of music that somehow incorporates every whacky effect (slicer, hi) in a tasteful way!
The UI and UX sound very interesting, reasonably well thought out at first glance/listen. It sure sounds rather exciting, can't wait for an in-depth review/demo!

What is the editing screen like on the unit.
The Helix has had by far the best screen and editing features over all the floor models (with the exception of the head rush touch)

Check out the video I posted above. There was a glimpse of Helix-ish type signal path on the editing screen. There are other aspects about setting up the blocks that sound really cool too, like the stompbox setup.

All i saw was on the phone/bluetooth editing.
the unit itself looks like the AX8 sort of calculator screen

The editing screen is GREAT. Sure, it's not super pretty like the Helix, but unlike the helix - you can see ours in daylight or brightly lit stages. Also - the Helix screen is a MASSIVE part of the unit's cost. By including something more utilitarian, we've been able to deliver our unit at a much lower price.
The GT1000 UI is pretty intuitive and easy to use.

sirvill wrote:So the GT1000 is meant to be AxeFX/Helix level I take it... 2 questions then:
- can it load third party impulses?
- how much roughly will it be?
No, it can't load 3rd party IR's. The reason is that our new AIRD technology uses IR for the preamp, power amp and speaker all seperately - but also takes into account how they interact with each other (just like in a real amp). 3rd party IR's are like a singular snapshot, that can't react in this dynamic fashion. If we allowed 3rd party IR's, you would be missing out on the "real amp feel" of GT-1000.
Price in Australia is set at $1,699 SSP. I'm assuming NZ will be around the $1899 - $1999 mark
