Re: Favourite isolated guitar tracks
Not my thing at all but listening to that track in isolation is really instructive. The phrasing is suddenly obvious and really easy to follow. The tone is clearly produced by decibels which should ease the burden of those searching for power tone at whisper volume. ( Chase Lotto wins instead; your chances of success are better).
Very cool. Thank you.
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

Love this! The tone is saturated and on the verge of fuzz but you hear all the string sound and articulation as well! I think Slowy might be right, volume is key for this.

Didn't Ed always tune at least his B string slightly out of tune anyway? I think with enough volume tuning becomes irrelevant anywaywillow13 wrote:and who said you can't keep a Vtrem in tune .... 100% proof there that you can

This is one that stands out for me
Rock n roll bit of Berry in it and hammering chords
sublime
this is just dirty goodness
An this makes you realize that gain is not needed to be so high

Re: Favourite isolated guitar tracks
This one was pretty educational for me:
One of my absolute favourite sounding albums of all time.
A lot of the guitar tracks sound like shit in isolation. Harsh, grating tone, timing issues, even some tuning issues. But together in the mix they sound fantastic.
I also discovered that maybe my favourite guitar tone of all time (the solos at 24:10) is just plugged into the desk
Taught me the value of imperfection. Or maybe the lack of value in perfection.

Yep, 24:10 is one of my favourite solos ever, too. Frusciante is one of the greats. One of my all time albums.

Re: Favourite isolated guitar tracks
all his strings were tuned slightly "off" at some point...not sure if he was doing that in this era but he certainly ended up doing it to this dayjeremyb wrote:Didn't Ed always tune at least his B string slightly out of tune anyway? On songs with a major 3rd on the B and G strings he did. Like Running the Devil if you tune the B string slightly flat so the first chord doesn't "wobble" it sounds more like the album.jeremyb wrote: Didn't Ed always tune at least his B string slightly out of tune anyway?
