Clean boost?
I've been using a catlinbread super chilli picosa for years.
I'm wondering about trying a different clean boost that doesn't have such a daunting 'treble' boost aspect to it.
Predominantly for surf sound. A little bit of grit is ok but generally want things to stay clean. As a boost for solos with my JM and as an always on for the jag to thicken up the sound a little.
There are a lot of options so would appreciate some advice. Also if anyone has something they are flicking then I'm in the market.
Cheers

Re: Clean boost?
It might be a bit low rent for you but I have a joyo zip amp, their Xotic BB preamp and it can do clean boost really well, also has a switchable compression mode if you want to tighten things up, plenty of gain on tap if you want to get dirty too...

I have an SHO clone that you could borrow if you wanted?StrummersOfThunder wrote: ↑Wed Jan 27, 2021 5:55 am I've been using a catlinbread super chilli picosa for years.

Re: Clean boost?
I use a Philosophers Tone compressor sometimes as a boost. Compression set low and level high. Really thickens things up without compromising dynamics etc.
EQ pedals work great as boost also.

Re: Clean boost?
I would be tempted into something like this - thrifty price for a USA pedal, and importantly has a tone control so you can dial out those highs to your suiting.

I've also been on the look out for another boost, and went with the Supro original circuit one. I'll review when I get it, but all the intawebs research I did suggested it had the tone I was after...not entirely colour free (I have a Walrus for for that).

Re: Clean boost?
TC Spark for me - the Spark Mini is 100% clean and the full size Spark can provide a slight touch of grit. Plus you get high and low EQ shelves, making it a damn useful utility pedal.

Re: Clean boost?
Boss GE-7.
It has a goodly volume boost on tap and you can tweak the eq any way you like.

Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.
