That was a happy accident, some wahs in those days had the jacks reversed! Then on his later rigs there was a switch on the wah to reverse it, he uses the volume control and pickup selector in tandem with the reverse wah to get the crazy tones.

Agreed, although I was listening to this in my car the other day and some of those high bends are tinnitus inducing. Tbf i think it could partly be due to the 'rolla's wrecked speakers.
Pompeii - Darkside era will always be one of my favourites. I've recently really been enjoying the later 70's stuff too, particularly Animals.
