NGD • 1974 Greco EG800
Have been umming and ahhhing over this one for a while, but have just sent chrisz a text this morning to tell him I'll take it off his hands. It's a pre-serial number 74-75 Greco 'Narumo' EG800. Currently has Flat Wound 10's on it so they may get switched to regular steel 10's, but we'll see
Hoping to have it next week so will post some pics and first impressions once it's arrived

I would have loved to have put dibs on yours Oldie… but figured it’s likely not going anywhere ?!

It’s a colour I haven’t had before and it’s similar to my Dad’s ES355, so it’s a bit of a nod to him. With regards to the bridge I honestly have no idea, sorry
How’s your gorgeous new LP, still in the honeymoon phase?

I love the new Custom, although I'm finding those pickups a little harsh sounding - but it's just a matter of getting used to them, and messing with the settings on the amp. Amazing tuning stability as well

Will post up what I think of it, absolutely. It was picked up from Auckland yesterday morning but the ETA is 5th January - so hopefully next week but who knows. Not the best time of the year to be waiting for things to be delivered

Re: Incoming NGD • 1975 Greco EG800
Turned up this morning. Stuck some new strings on it as I think the Flat Wound's that were on it could have been fairly old - a couple of the strings snapped as I was bringing it up to pitch. It's 4.2kg, nice and resonant and the intonation thankfully seems near enough spot on. It looks like it's seen some use, you can tell it's been played quite a bit although it's been taken really good care of. The binding has aged to that lovely nicotine-stained yellow that you often see on vintage guitars
Haven't plugged her in yet, will save that experience for later in the week. Plays great without me haven't to make too many adjustments, looks like it will need a refret at some point as there's not much left in them and they're pretty flat to the neck. All in all a very cool old 'LP', loving the top on it too

Wonder what else he has, he doesn’t seem to be that active on here anymore unfortunately. I know he also had quite a nice looking Greco EG650 burst; that was up on TM at the same time as this one but it never got relisted

Rad looking guitar! I had mad GAS for a similar LP but with mini humbuckers for a loooong time.

I’ve seen some of his collection in person when I was looking at Greco SG he was selling last year. He’s really got a thing for Japanese guitars from the 70s and 80s, and noticed stuff pretty well. I think he’s liquidating a lot of it now though.MiniForklift wrote: ↑Thu Jan 05, 2023 7:51 amWonder what else he has, he doesn’t seem to be that active on here anymore unfortunately.
