Best Gibson Replacement Tuners?
2010 Les Paul Junior won't stay in tune. Mechanical slip suspected... Help? Advice?
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

Do you want to keep the same look?
I put Hipshot locking tuners on everything these days, you could change the button over if you needed to and there's no screws involved as they come with a mounting plate so it's 100% reversible.

Gotoh SD90's for Kluson style and SG381 for the normal style. Both in locking. I have used the UMP Hipshots, but have found that the stagger of them is a bit short for some headstock.

You can even get 3-a-side SD90s with spilt shafts — the way all (non-locking) tuners should be.

Re: Best Gibson Replacement Tuners?
Are they pulling sharp or slipping flat?
It's worth checking the nut slots IME. On all the Gibson and Gretsch guitars that have taken up residence at my place (some brief, some long term), I've had to flare the nut slots slightly on the A, D, G, and B strings to avoid tuning instability. The angle back from the nut to the tuner is a bitch for causing snags.
If you need to change, Gotohs are my fave.

+1 for checking nut slots. I've never needed to replace a tuner, but have had so file plenty of but slots.bender wrote: ↑Mon Sep 06, 2021 2:04 pm Are they pulling sharp or slipping flat?

A freudian slip perhaps?

Not even gonna bother correcting my post. It's better the way it is.

I fitted these Kluson 19:1 to a SG a few years back. Really liked them. Bit of an art deco thing to the design. Went straight on without any drama.

Get a better guitar. What are you doing with a LP Jnr anyway?! That's not a Slowy guitar.

I've ordered Grover Tuners for the Gibson Tobias as that's the original part. Had no problems with them on other Basses.

Re: Best Gibson Replacement Tuners?
It is extremely rare for tuners to slip due to their worm gear design.

Re: Best Gibson Replacement Tuners?
Yep, it is much more likely to be the strings catching in the nut...think of it as a feature. Those gibson string spacers/butlers work well
