M2M '58 335 'Runaround Sue' has arrived
After nearly 2 years in the making my tobacco sunburst ES 335 arrived on Friday.
A big fat neck 1" at the 1st fret, a dark board and a burgundy finish that just kills it in every sense of the word.
Gibson Customshop did a great job with this, and they had to go retro to get the neck right, back to the '50s was the call and they nailed it care of my buddy in the USA Dave Misley who's had 3 similar fat necked M2Ms made by them in the last few years.
Pics to follow this week.

Looking forward to the photos too...
BTW, isn't the whole fat neck feeling depending on the size of one's hand?

When faced with quality, I recognise it every time.

Varies from person to person.
I haven't got big hands(and not stubby) for example and am of medium build so it's very much as to what suits the individual as regards neck size.
The neck on this guitar would be the biggest I've played outside of the '50s Gibsons I've tried over the years and goes 1" to 1.08" at the 12th, a nice fat rounded '50s C shape with slightly rolled shoulders.

Wow, that's even bigger than my Korinacaster which is 1" straight through.
Happy NGD!!
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

Very nice, looks like the 2009 one I was recently watching on TM. Congrats, I bet she sounds as good as she looks and sounds like a bucket list guitar for sure

Yes the 2 years and a lot of emails and discussion with Jess at Music Zoo in New York(she was great) plus in the last 2 months giving Gibson Customshop a kick in the butt to get the 335 finished and on the way to me, so for a while there I felt like I was getting the run around from Gibson and I'm in a '50s Rock'n'Roll band so Dion DiMucci's song flashed in my brain, and so it goes.

It looks awesome -- tasty burst on it. Yeah I've bought two guitars from Music Zoo. Good people there.goldtop0 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 03, 2022 9:20 am

What fret size did you go with?
Here's my guitar, it's long overdue
It's from a shop called The Music Zoo
They took my specs then went to town
She's the sweetest 335 goin' round

Thanks for the poem my man, that's spot on
Just standard '58 size frets whatever they are, they do me fine.

Yes well the last 2 years have been so dreary Graham that you find yourself saying 'when is this shite going to end', so I went bananas on bucketlist stuff and that's sated my urges to a degree, costly but satisfying, covering a good number GAS yearnings from my youth..... this one was from age 15.
