Shout out to Rob for the epic nitro refin on my custom harvester goldthwait
Originally done in (almost) seafoam green, but not a great finish at all. Had intended to send it back to the maker for a respray but never got round to it.
Rob kindly offered to refin it for practice (and a band master cab).
Its an epic result.
I havent got a set of new strings but couldnt wait to show it off, complete with madlove bridge wide range humbucker.
Cheers Rob, What a GC

Kind of tempted to hit Rob up to respray the faded paint on the roof of my car.
Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and he'll spend thousands on fishing equipment he'll use for a bit, then get bored and move onto something else.
Bit of background. I'd sprayed four guitars with rattle cans before this, with pretty poor results. The fourth was a custom-made guitar that I'm very hopeful will be an absolute cracker, so I decided to buy an air compressor, spray gun and all the rest, then have a go a re-spraying it properly. But to be honest I needed something to practice on first.
So.... thanks for giving me a bit of licence to have a crack at this, Ants. It was nice knowing that even if I did a rubbish job, it probably would be better than the original finish.
I sprayed this guitar with probably three or four times more lacquer than I needed. Every time I fucked up the air pressure, spray pattern, lacquer viscosity, or any of the hundred bloody other variables, I'd have to sand it back. Combine this with the worst bloody weather in history, it's been probably a six month project. Ants has been very patient.
I learned heaps during the process, and have applied it to my own project. While the Harvester's finish isn't perfect, I have offered to re-spray one of Ants' other instruments on the house if he does wasn't something close to perfect.
Also, I'd be a bloody good player if I'd invested the time I spent sanding and spraying on actually playing guitar.

Spring is the comic sans of reverbs anyway.

If your car is sparkly purple, hmu.
The roof is black, the rest of it is pearl white. Sparkly purple on the roof could definitely work...

Well done Rob...this result looks great. And agreed, very poor spraying weather...I also have a very patient customer waiting for his vintage Strat back.

I dont think the photos really do it justice either, its a really really nice finish.
I now have this all wired and restrung
I opted for the gold guard. I think it brings out the amber in the finish more than the tort.
Im also REALLY happy with the madlove WRH. Sounds the bizz. Ive (for the moment) hidden a jess loureiro jag neck pickup under the JM cover as far towards the neck as possible which has worked well to space the coils out a bit and avoid the phase issues I was having previously.
Looks awesome, man. Congrats to you and Rob. Impressive staging with the Tremolux head...a nice complementary guitar/amp degustation pairing...a tastefully wobbly guitar and a wickedly wobbly amp. Tiki-bar graphic guitar strap or too much against the Hawaii shirt?
