Harmony HV-15 1966 Bobkat
Successful wee guitar safari today. Silvertone branded 1966 H-15 twin pickup with vibrato bobcat. Just like Thurston Moores 1992 Guitar Player cover shot, the reason why I wanted one![aachment=0]20230403_202409.jpg[/attachment]
It has the Dearmond gold foils that are actually silver so, silverfoils?

Looking forward to pulling that one apart and seeing what's involved.

Re: Harmony HV-15 1966 Bobkat
Nice, I have a 1972 H617, a real fun guitar to play, the short scale and goldfoils on mine are a blast, the pickups are hot.
The type W vibratos like this, all you need to do is set the screw so the bottom of the tailpiece is parallel to the body, works fine after that.
It is a floating bridge much like an archtop.Lostininverness wrote: ↑Wed Apr 05, 2023 8:08 pm NIce one! How do those pick-ups sound? is the bridge fixed into the body?

Re: Harmony HV-15 1966 Bobkat
I've ended up with a wee harem of guitars that fit within the 'goldfoil / Dearmond/ Rowe' template and I have to say, the pickups are definitely worth the hype.
The guitars themselves have various flaws (the frets on Teiscos are abominable) but they definitely have their quirky appeal. I think I might try sourcing some pickups and then build a telecaster around them.1935 Martin D-45, 1942 Gibson Southern Jumbo,1950 Fender Broadcaster, 1954 Fender Strat, 1958 Gibson Moderne prototype, 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard.

A mate of mine has an identical one to your red, four pickup one. Really interesting to play that one. IIR correctly, the four pickups are all wired in series, and each pickup can be either in or shorted out of circuit via the switches.kdawg2a wrote: ↑Thu Apr 06, 2023 12:22 pm I've ended up with a wee harem of guitars that fit within the 'goldfoil / Dearmond/ Rowe' template and I have to say, the pickups are definitely worth the hype. 20230405_201201.jpg

That one's a Teisco SS-4L. Yeah, that's right about the pickup in series detail. The fun feature is when you strum, it's easy to knock them on and off. Hours of fun!Jay wrote: ↑Thu Apr 06, 2023 2:27 pmA mate of mine has an identical one to your red, four pickup one. Really interesting to play that one. Re: Harmony HV-15 1966 Bobkat
Apparently the two chrome pickups on the guitar at the bottom of the picture (Teisco MJ-2) are the same as the goldfoils on the SS-4L just different covers. And for what it's worth, the proper gold foils are the ones with the pole pieces at the side, not in the middle.

Re: Harmony HV-15 1966 Bobkat
That's a pretty nuts asking price, you could buy a Les Paul for that! I see them advertised here for around $1500 USD. Whether they sell at that price, I don't know. I paid $500 for mine in 2014 and as much as I love them, that was top end of what I was willing to pay.Jay wrote: ↑Fri Apr 07, 2023 2:51 pmThere is one in NZ for sale for you with a low asking pricekdawg2a wrote: ↑Fri Apr 07, 2023 10:15 am Apparently the two chrome pickups on the guitar at the bottom of the picture (Teisco MJ-2) are the same as the goldfoils on the SS-4L just different covers.
